Chakras are energy centers in the body that correspond to different organs, emotions, and psychological states. When chakras are balanced, they promote wellness and allow us to access higher states of being.
When your chakras are out of balance, you may experience a range of physical, emotional, and mental symptoms:
Physical: Pain, numbness, or other physical sensations in the parts of the body near the chakra
Emotional: Increased anger, sadness, fear, indecisiveness, or anxiety
Mental: Depression, cloudy thinking, or cognitive setbacks

Rosie O’Shea, MS, L.Ac., L.M.T.
Rosie graduated in 2010 with a Masters of Science in Acupuncture from The Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences in New York City. While at the Swedish Institute, she had the privilege of studying with the internationally renowned Jeffrey Yuen and continues post-graduate studies of his teachings.
Her continuing education studies include year long programs in: therapeutic essential oils, and Chinese dietary therapy. Additional training includes: advanced pulse taking, advanced acupuncture, advanced tongue diagnosis, addiction treatment, breast cancer treatment support, craniosacral therapy, prenatal massage, shiatsu and reiki.
Rosie feels honored to have worked in many different healing settings including hospitals, spas, chiropractic offices and in private practice.
While practicing at Southampton Hospital in Southampton, NY Rosie started a community acupuncture clinic and an acupuncture healing circle for women with breast cancer and survivors of breast cancer. She also treated hospital staff as part of a program called “caring for the caregiver”.
Rosie believes that treatments should empower patients and help them discover their capacity to heal themselves. The goal is to cultivate the wellness each individual is seeking and give them tools to support them on their healing journey.

Saturday Vinyasa Flow in Pell Gardens
Hopefully the cooler weather is behind us, but before the HOT weather is upon us, Yoga on the Canal would love to do a Vinyasa FLow Class on the stage in Pell Gardens this Saturday morning, June 5 from 9:00 - 10:00am.
For those of you that have never been to Pell Gardens, it is a beautiful site to see. Located on the canal of Chesapeake City, it is a BREATHTAKING view. Especially while doing a yoga class breathing in the fresh air and exhaling back out, which I love to call "MOVING MEDITATION". For this very reason, our theme for this flow will be "GRATITUDE"!

Mondays @ 5:30-6:30 and Wednesdays 5:30-6:30pm.
Barre is a total body workout. It is a combination of ballet, yoga and Pilates. A low impact workout that includes sculpting of arms with light weights, barre work to strengthen and tone legs, calf's, thighs and glutes and ending with core work and a cool down! Fun, upbeat music and a great workout.

Using Young Living Essential Oils with Your Yoga Practice
Join Yoga on the Canal as we begin using Young Living Essential Oils during your yoga practice. Carole will demonstrate how we can use these little beauties throughout our daily lives, and show how the oils can help eliminate toxins from your body keeping us healthy! We will share which oils help you receive the best yoga experience during your moving meditation! Please be sure to bring your mat, as we will do a very short practice demonstrating when and where to use the oils. There is no cost for this workshop, but we have a limited number for attendees. So be sure to still sign up to reserve your spot.
YOGALATIES
This yoga flow is a great flow including all series. Assessing our bodies for aches and pains, moving into a nice warmup and continuing our asanas helping each part of our bodies along the way. We have added several pilate moves to strengthen our core area. When you have a strong core area, you have a foundation of a healthy posture. Major core muscles are located in the abdomen, middle back, and lower back. They include the pelvic floor muscles, transverse abdominal muscles, internal side (or oblique) muscles, external side (or oblique) muscles, and diaphragm muscles, among others. All of the asanas together with these core pilate moves introduced to us during this class will help us achieve a strong, healthy body overall as well as connecting our minds and bodies. This class is 75 minutes at the price of $16.00, and is recommended for any yogi, beginner or advanced as Carole will cue modifications throughout the flow. Please wear masks as you enter the class.

Yin Yoga on the Canal
This class is to help us relieve stress and anxiety by slowing down and living in the NOW. We begin by assessing our bodies to notice where we are achy and stay mindful of those body parts. This class is a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body - the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, lower spine. These areas are especially rich in connective tissues. The poses are held for up to five minutes, sometimes longer. Yin yoga is almost entirely passive, although some Yin asanas contain Yang elements. During the asanas, muscles are relaxed to avoid muscle spasm, which could result from engaging muscles for long periods. Please bring any props you wish, pillow, blanket, blocks, etc. $13.00 a class or purchase a 5-class pass at the beginning of your next visit. Please click the link below to reserve your spot.
Yoga on the Canal - Detox Yoga Practice
During these crazy, stressful times we need to detox our body and mind of all the negativity and toxins that build up inside us daily! Please join us in a Detox Yoga Practice, and share a little love as well. Please be sure to wear your masks as you enter, and bring any props of yours you may want to use. We will be distancing our mats at 6’ distance apart so spaces are limited.
